The bones of your house are crucial. The flooring, paint colors, light fixtures and furniture must all be painstakingly selected to achieve the style and look you desire. This process is the key to execute a space that has both style and function. But, many people forget to add the final layer and are unfortunately left with a space that feels empty and unfinished. Accessories are the finishing touch that can make your house a home.

Recently a client came to CHD Interiors wanting to add some final touches to their already furnished home. With the addition of some carefully selected accessories, we were able to achieve a more warm and inviting space

The Before Living Area below has great bones and beautiful selections were made but it still needed the fine-tuning of accessories.

A new larger rug helps to incorporate all of the room’s seating for a well-defined conversation area. The rug’s subtle herringbone pattern adds an elegant texture to give the rug a high-end look. The contrast of the traditional blue and white ginger jars and lighter wood transitional cocktail table adds an eclectic and sophisticated feel. These diverse selections create a home that looks well collected and not a generic chain store look.

This after shot is amazing! The gorgeous large scale painting over the sofa brings the beauty of the outside landscape in. It adds drama while still giving the space a restful and peaceful vibe. And the new addition of toss pillows to the sofa, also add a powerful pop of color to this space. The textures and colors of these pillows make the sofa feel inviting and luxurious. But not all accessories are just about pleasing the eye. Accessories can also be useful and functional. These electric sconces flanking the painting are definitely impressive but also beneficial by adding light to a dark room.

A small champagne table and an antiqued mirrored lamp help create a much-needed reading area. This cozy spot is a must have for every late night reader! The large basket in the background is also versatile and stylish. It stores extra pillows and blankets for our client’s convenience.

The window treatment panels are hung high to create height and frame the windows. The subdued print and color of the fabric add to the layered look without being overwhelming in the room. The matchstick blinds on the doors are beautiful, functional and were much needed for privacy.

In this Dining Room an odd cluster of objects, varying in size, take the place of a traditional centerpiece. The pyramid arrangement, with the tallest object in the back, breaks up the symmetry that usually dominates Dining Room table decor. This interesting change makes the room feel less formal and more updated.

The previously blank Foyer now holds a metal and lime stone entry piece enhanced with lamps and artwork. With the placement of these carefully selected items, this forgotten space is currently a welcoming entrance.

What a stunning transformation! Accessorizing is an easy but impactful way to elevate your space. It can remake a lack luster environment, that mimics a furniture showroom, into a lovely warm and inviting home.
