1. Mix the Old and New: As the world continues to become more focused on going green, repurposing, and reinventing, we see the same trend influencing the interior design world.  People are fusing contemporary design, with unique antique and vintage pieces to create a distinctive, singular look.  We often have clients who are under the misconception that you have to pick one style or another, but you do not – you can create your own style by fusing together all the aspects you like about different genres of design.  Take a look at these examples of spaces where fusing contemporary elements with antique and vintage pieces makes these rooms “pop.”

2. Using Salvaged Items to Make Unique Interior Design Elements: Much along the lines of Number 1 above is Number 2 – creating unique lighting fixtures, tables, lamps, ceilings, etc. from salvaged materials.  Such items are often one-of-a-kind and can be the conversation piece(s) for a space.

Reclaimed beams are an awesome way to draw your eye up and give a room height and depth.  They can make a room so much more interesting.

5. Embellished Edges: Make your window treatments and pillows interesting with that coordinating fringe, band, or pom pom.  Embellishments can make an ordinary pillow, window treatment, or throw more custom and unique while tying together all the colors in the room.
