Our Design Process

If you have never worked with a designer, it may be daunting or difficult to know what to expect. New clients often ask us how our design process works. First, we begin with the initial consultation. This is the opportunity for us to get to know your needs, wants and expectations. Your thoughts, as the client, are critical! Our goal at CHD Interiors is to give our clients exactly what they have imagined but we can only do that through communication and exploration. Next comes the selections… this is the exciting part! This is when we use our expertise to create a design concept uniquely for you. We meticulously select furnishings, artwork, and accessories specifically for your family and your space. Things like floor plans, if space planning is needed, are also crafted at this time. After all selections are made and finalized, the ordering takes place. This is the hardest part of the process…. For all of us! It takes patience to wait for all the custom, hand crafted items to be fabricated but it is so worth it at the big reveal. Finally, the best part… the installation. It is in the end when all of the hours of planning and selecting are completed to give you the perfect curated look.

Now you know how the process works, see below to view a design project from start to finish!

These before images were taken at the initial consultation. We discussed their desire for a more modern, transitional style in the Living Room. They wanted an updated look with a light and airy feel. Because they are a family of four with pets, we also discussed their need for durability in fabrics and furnishings. They also wanted to keep a few existing pieces in the space, as well as keep the dark olive walls. Keeping the dark walls would be tricky especially if they wanted a light and airy update but we were up to the challenge!

This light colored rug was the inspiration behind the new subdued color palette. This muted rug was the perfect find! It combined calming, cool colors such as aqua, blue, and cream but also had touch of the olive wall color!

Our fabric selections had to be light and airy to counterbalance the dark olive walls but also need to be durable for the family and their pets, so high performance and outdoor fabrics were selected for the upholstery. The upholstery fabrics function but are soft to the touch for comfort as well. Selections were then finalized and ordered.

And now the big reveal! We added an abstract oil painting over the new ivory sofa and antiqued mirror collection around the TV to reflect light. The dark shades were also removed from the window and new window treatments panels in a light fabric with metallic accents were hung high to give the room drama.

The results were amazing and our clients were thrilled! We thank you for trusting us with your dreams and giving us the opportunity to do what we love!
